Central Equatoria State tightens security ahead of festive season
The Governor of Central Equatoria State Emmanuel Adil Anthony has ordered security forces to tighten up security across the city and counties during the festive season.
Adil revealed this to journalists on Thursday at the State Secretariat in Juba.
“I would like to assure the citizens that the state government has taken all necessary measures to ensure that the situation in all the counties is calm to enable the citizens to celebrate the birth of our savior Jesus Christ,” said Adil.
He urged families to embrace peace and love during this festive season.
“Let’s us promote the welfare of our families, communities and all citizens of South Sudan by building love, peace and harmony among ourselves as people of God,” he said.
Adil called on all residents of Juba to cooperate with security forces as they embark on the routine patrols.
“We need to be mindful of our responsibilities and take caution of our lives and properties,” he said.
Fierce clashes erupted this week between cattle herders from Jonglei State and the indigenous community of Mangala County of Central Equatoria. The incident caused the state to deploy security forces to calm the fighting which left some three people killed and scores injured.
