The management of Juba high secondary school based in Jonglei state has admitted some of it’s students indulged in examination malpractices, that led to cancelling of the certificate of secondary examinations for all candidates who sat exams at the school this year.
“The problem was caused by few individuals, they were about four. I have given their names and they have identified them,” Philip Akuei, the headmaster of Juba high secondary school told The Juba Echo on Sunday.
The 2022 secondary school examination was written from March 20th till March 24th by 36,150 students in 398 secondary schools across the country.
Simon Nyok Deng, the Secretary General for the National Examination Council announced last week cancellation of results for three secondary schools over examination malpractices.
The affected schools include Standard Secondary in Wau town of Western Bahr El Ghazel State, and Gatyiel Secondary School in Unity State and Juba High Secondary in Bor town of Jonglei State.
Akuei said the decision taken by the national examination council will act as a deterrent for examination malpractices, adding that few students in his school obstructed invigilators, security personnel as well as national monitors.
“The case was supposed to be for specific people but now they have generalized, I thought that only those whose names were taken had to be affected, I never knew that the whole number could be affected,” Akuei said.
About 71 candidates of Juba High Secondary School are affected by the national examination council’s decision.
The national ministry of general education and instruction canceled results of candidates that were found with phones and foreign materials in their live script.
