At least 2,868 pupils have sat for this year’s Primary Leaving Exams in greater Unity State.
This was revealed by Tot Jockchieng Nyuo, the state minister of general education during his visit to pupils on Monday sitting for exams Bentiu internally displaced peoples’ camp.
He said that out of 2868 candidates 915 are girls and 1953 boys.
“I have confirmed 2868 school candidates and they are doing their examinations in 15 examinations centers, only 14 school children missed examinations because they did not receive their index number for the examination, but they will sit for next year,” Nyuon said.
Nyuon urged primary eight candidates to take the lead in primary eight examinations.
“I expected you to take the lead in South Sudan primary eight leaving examinations as you have been doing it for the past two years,” he said.
He advised primary eight candidates to avoid malpractices in the examination rooms.
“I encourage you to behave well in the examination rooms and use your mind to pass,” he added.
“I am happy this year because the number of girls has increased to 915 and no one missed the examinations among the girls, this year the ministry of education will prioritize girls’ education in greater Bentiu,” Nyuon said.
Pupils are sitting for examination in 15 centers including Panyijiar county, Koch, Leer, Mayendit, Mayom, Rubkona, Bentiu IDP camp, Guit and Bentiu town.
