Zain donates food items to 250 inmates in Juba central prison

Zain South Sudan has donated food items to enable the Islamic council offer meals to fasting Muslim inmates in the Juba Central Prison.

“Zain always support the community of South Sudan in different aspects, this is the period of Ramadan, we are here to share with them at the time of their needs, we have been doing this based on the situation,” Swangin Scopas, the Communication and Branding manager for Zain South Sudan said in Juba on Thursday.

 “We are actually doing a diverse kind of support, we are not singling out anyone, we care for general population of South Sudanese to benefit the communities and also alleviate certain situation of people in this country,” he added.

Maj.Gen. Atok Atem, the deputy director for Juba Central Prison said the food items will help fasting women and children get their meals at Juba central prison.

He said that 250 prisoners are fasting in the prison facility.

Arfa Juma Suliman, the secretary of women, child and social welfare for the South Sudan Islamic council said that up to 90 percent of the fasting inmates lack meals.  “We are receiving contribution from Zain, we are in Ramadan and that is their support to fasting population, we call our brothers and well-wishers to support Muslims it may be little but is a greater contribution,
