Write Stories Based On Facts—Minister Tells Journalists

The government Spokesperson also the Minister of Information, Communication Technology and Postal Services Michael Makuei Lueth on Tuesday asked all journalists in the country to concentrate efforts in positive rather than negative writing about South Sudan.
Mr Makuei hooted this call during a three-day workshop for Media Personnel organized by National Disarmament Demobilization and Reintegration (NDDR) in collaboration with the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) to impart skills of ethical reporting among journalists practicing in South with special attention given to Children’s protection.
A joint taskforce of South Sudan government and UNMISS on 7th February 2020, adopted a work plan to foil and end violations against children including those associated with armed conflict.
“I don’t care about your sources but whenever you write your story, you must have evidence and the people at heart,” he advised.
The spokesman observes that, there are two types of journalists working in South Sudan namely; those who writes on hearsay and paid up writers who commit to propelling schemas of some elements in both private and public sectors. He further reiterated that his ministry needs all journalists to always carry identity card any moment they go around performing their journalistic roles
