WHO Country Director Bids Farewell to Foreign Minister, Confirms South Sudan Remains Ebola-Free

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Amb. Dr. James Pitia Morgan, on Wednesday received a farewell courtesy call from the outgoing World Health Organization (WHO) Country Director, Dr. Humphrey Karamagi.

During the meeting, Dr. Karamagi expressed appreciation for the Government of South Sudan’s support throughout his tenure and commended the strong partnership between the country and WHO in addressing public health challenges and strengthening health services.

The two officials also discussed recent developments in the health sector, with particular focus on Ebola preparedness. Dr. Karamagi confirmed that South Sudan remains free of Ebola, with no reported cases or deaths, and said WHO continues to work closely with the Ministry of Health to enhance surveillance, preparedness and preventive measures.

Minister Morgan thanked Dr. Karamagi for his dedicated service and significant contributions to South Sudan’s health sector, wishing him success in his future assignment.
