UJOSS Achieves New Milestone in Journalist Safety
This resource aims to equip journalists with essential information and strategies to navigate the challenges they face in their profession
The Union of Journalists of South Sudan (UJOSS) has on Thursday celebrated a significant milestone aimed at enhancing the safety of journalists throughout the country.
In collaboration with Advance South Sudan and with the support of UNESCO, UJOSS conducted a three-day training session, successfully trained at least 40 journalists from various media outlets on crucial safety measures that journalists should adopt both on and off duty.
Alongside the training, UJOSS has launched a SAFETY GUIDE Booklet specifically designed for journalists in South Sudan. This resource aims to equip journalists with essential information and strategies to navigate the challenges they face in their profession, ultimately ensuring their well-being and security.
UJOSS Secretary General Majak Kuany Alier, Executive Director of Advance South Sudan Maya Nimaya Joseph, UNESCO Country Director Julius Banda, and Media Authority Communication Officer Nyathiai Makuach have all expressed their commitment to protecting journalists by fostering a safer environment for media professionals in South Sudan.
