Trouble for South Sudan if security arrangements are not completed: AU envoy

By Simon Deng

The failure by the South Sudanese presidency in concluding pending tasks in the security arrangement as stipulated in the revitalized peace agreement  is a race for another trouble, Joram Mukama Biswaro said.

“Even if we complete other chapters without a thorough completion of chapter two, the security arrangement, is a race for another trouble in the future and we would not like South Sudan to repeat the same mistakes as in 2013 where we were subjected to a senseless war,” Biswaro warned over the weekend.

“The presidency has the role to play in the implementation of the revitalized agreement of 2018. It would be a gratifying Christmas and New Year present if we can address those issues pertaining security arrangement which is the backbone of the agreement,” he said.

Biswaro said that South Sudan is endowed with abundance natural resources which will enable the country to largely contribute to the socioeconomic development, noting that peace and stability is needed for the development across the country.

“With high a sense of humility and responsibility, I appealed to you that with your colleagues, with your partners, look at that with a sense of attachment and commitments to the continent,” he said.
