Suspected killer of Payam officials in N.Bahr El Ghazal arrested

Authorities in Northern Bahr El Ghazal State on Friday confirmed the arrest of the suspected killer of two local officials last week in Warguet Payam of Northern Bahr El Ghazal State.
This was revealed on Friday by William Anyuon Kuol, the state minister of information in Aweil town.
“The killer is remanded in Merram area of Sudan, and we are working hard to ensure that he is brought to us as per the agreement,” said Kuol. .
“The information we have is that he (suspect) is being interrogated in Sudan, and he accepted that he is the one who murdered the payam administrator and his assistant,” he added.
On January 13, the Warguet Payam administrator Santino Akech Angok and his deputy Arol Yai were gunned down by a suspected Misseriya man.
The incident also left two survivors seriously injured.
The suspect allegedly had conflict with the Warguet payam authorities over property he accused them of confiscating some years back
Merram where the suspect is being held is located in Southern Kordofan region of neighboring Sudan.
The Dinka community in Northern Bahr El Ghazal signed peace pact with Misseriya community which warrants any suspected killer to be handed over to either side for trial.
In addition, the pact also provides for blood compensation fine.
Kiir Yor Lual, the Commissioner of Aweil County on Thursday visited Majak-wuoy area located at the border with Sudan where he discussed the extradition of the suspected killer with dozens of Misseriya leaders.
