Heavy fighting reported in Leer County , Unity State

Fighting started in Leer County of Unity State between SPLM-IO division four B and SPLM-IG at around 5:00 am according to authorities on the ground.

according to residents of Leer, the fighting broke out between forces of Gen. Simon Maguek and SPLA – IO forces stationed at Tharkotni PuokLeny in Kaigai village South of Leer town.

Gen. Maguek defected to SSPDF in Juba on Oct. 7th 2023 and traveled to Leer just two days after switching side to organize his forces.
