Members of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) party on Wednesday ended their retreat where they endorsed President Salva Kiir as the party flag bearer for the upcoming elections in December 2024.
William Anyuon Kuol, Northern Bahr El Ghazal state minister for information and communication, said thousands of SPLM supporters from the four states of the greater Bahr El Ghazal region including Abyei Administrative Area have returned to their states.
“Most of the people have returned and it was a nice celebration. This showcases the love for the President to still head the nation and SPLM as a party,” he said.
One of the youth who preferred to speak on condition of anonymity, said the SPLM lacks competitive internal democracy after party members unanimously endorsed President Kiir.
“There is a mess in the nation and a new face could help salvage the state of affairs of the nation,” he said.
