SPLM, opposition at loggerheads over suspension of Panyijiar commissioner

The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-in Government (SPLM-IG) led by President Salva Kiir and First Vice President Riek Machar’s SPLM- in opposition are feuding over the recent suspension of the Panyijiar county commissioner.

“We urge the deputy governor seating for SPLM-IO to stop messing up the spirit of partnership in the state, therefore his presence in the position as the top leader in the SPLM-IO is too dangerous to the revitalized peace agreement,” said Samaan Doctor Chuoryier Koryom, the SPLM-IG Interim secretary in unity state told The Juba Echo in an interview on Thursday.

This came after Joseph Nguen Monytuil Wejang, the Governor of Unity State suspended Tor Tunguar the Panyijiar county commissioner early this week without prior consultation with the latter’s party SPLM-IO.

Koryom said governor Monytuil exercised his constitutional powers to suspend Panyijiar county commissioner.
