South Sudan’s Journalists’ union gears up for media awards

The Union of Journalists of South Sudan or UJOSS is preparing the first-ever journalism excellence award planned for November 30th. 2023 in the capital Juba.

The Secretary General of UJOSS says the event will be witnessed by journalists’ representative from Kenya and Uganda.

“We will have one representative from Kenya Union of Journalists, he is already in the country, a representative from the Uganda Journalists Union will arrive on Thursday morning.” Said Majak Daniel Kuany Alier, UJOSS Secretary General.

Majak further said there are ten categories in which journalists have submitted their stories including, health reporting, political and human rights reporting, culture reporting, climate change reporting and gender reporting.

UJOSS says the awards are expected to promote professionalism and specialization.

“We call upon all journalists to attend the ceremony at Palm Africa Hotel, this is our day, let’s come and celebrate it, we also have our representatives from states, they are here with us.”Added Majak.
