South Sudan’s Civil Society Wants First Bunch Of Unified Forces to Restore Security
The civil society group in South Sudan have shot up their optimism about an improved security for all people as government is set to graduate first batch of unified forces.
The Civil society alliance however, tasked the government to avail more funds for the implementation of the pending critical security tasks, Mr.Akuoc Ajang, the chairperson for South Sudan Civil Society Alliance emphasized.
Ajang asked people to have hope because the men and women in uniform that are going to be graduated will provide security to people, protect land but above all, the process was not influenced by foreign powers but the willingness of the parties to the peace agreement.
“South Sudan Civil Society Alliance recommend that, government should immediately avail funds to the security mechanisms to complete the remaining security tasks including more training and graduation of the unified forces and implementation of the other remaining pre-transitional tasks,” he said.
He implored the parties to the agreement and in R-TGONU to reconcile, forgive and accept each other by working harmoniously despite the differences to ensure the success of R-ARCSS, noting that the pending tasks are well spelt out in the roadmap.
“Within 24 months the activities are spelt out, I want the security arrangements to be implemented in paper and spirit because we want people living in the IDPs camp to go back home to conducive environment,” added Ajang.
