South Sudan says diplomatic missions abroad remain operational
South Sudan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has dismissed reports that the country’s diplomatic missions abroad, including its embassy in Nairobi, Kenya, have been closed.
In a statement issued Thursday, the ministry said the South Sudanese Embassy in Nairobi remains open, clarifying that a temporary technical issue had affected some of its operations but was being resolved.
The ministry also rejected reports alleging that other South Sudanese embassies had been shut down, saying the country’s diplomatic missions abroad remain operational and continue to carry out their diplomatic functions.
The ministry urged the public and media organizations to rely on official government channels for accurate information regarding the operations of South Sudan’s diplomatic missions abroad. The statement was issued in Juba on Aug. 13, 2026.
