South Sudan Red Cross donates 19 cartons of oral-hydration salt to Rubkona health facility

The South Sudan Red Cross in Bentiu town has donated 19 cartons of oral hydration salt to Rubkona County health facility as in-kind gesture to commemorate International Red Cross Day in Unity State.

Ruai Bang Teny, Head of South Sudan Red Cross Bentiu branch, said the purpose of donation is to help Rubkona health facility to save the lives of people suffering from diarrhea as a result of drinking unsafe water.

“Our purpose of donating oral rehydration salt is to save lives of the most vulnerable people suffering from acute diarrhea,” Teny told Juba Echo at Rubkona County health facility.

On May 8, 2023 South Sudan Red Cross Bentiu branch joined the rest of the world to celebrate International Red Cross Day.

“We are supporting the community and we will continue to support them because it’s our mandate,” Teny said after they cleaned Rubkona health facility.

Jal Kuol Malow, Rubkona County health director, said that they received oral rehydration salt donation at the right time to help support vulnerable children suffering from diarrhea.

“As a county health director, I appreciate South Sudan Red Cross for the oral rehydration salt because it will help vulnerable children who are already admitted in the health facility,” Malow said.

Last year, South Sudan Red Cross donated washing soap, mosquito nets and blankets to Bentiu prison.
