South Sudan Reaffirms Strategic Partnership with China at CPC Anniversary Symposium

South Sudan has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with the People’s Republic of China during a symposium marking the 105th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

The symposium, hosted by the Chinese Ambassador to South Sudan, H.E. Ma Qiang, brought together senior government officials, scholars, think tank representatives, civil society organizations and members of the media from both South Sudan and China.

Representing the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Amb. Dr. James Pitia Morgan, the Undersecretary, Hon. Amb. Agnes Adlino Orifa Oswaha, attended the event alongside the Director of China Affairs, Amb. Marta Remjio Rial.

Speaking under the theme, “Building Bridges of Friendship, Advancing Strategic Partnership, and Shaping a Shared Future for South Sudan and China,” Amb. Oswaha highlighted the longstanding cooperation between the two countries and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to deepening diplomatic and economic ties.

She said President Salva Kiir Mayardit remains committed to promoting peace and driving economic transformation, while emphasizing the importance of South Sudan’s strategic partnership with China.

Amb. Oswaha also congratulated President Xi Jinping and the leadership of the Communist Party of China on the party’s 105th anniversary, commending China’s remarkable progress in development, innovation and global leadership.

She noted that relations between South Sudan and China continue to be guided by the principles of mutual respect, equality, non-interference in internal affairs and shared benefit. She further acknowledged China’s continued support for South Sudan since independence, particularly in infrastructure development, education, healthcare and capacity-building.

The Undersecretary also recognized China’s contribution to regional peace efforts and its role within the United Nations.

During the symposium, Hon. Cde. Bol Makueng Yuol delivered the keynote address on behalf of Vice President Prof. Gen. James Wani Igga, Chairperson of the Economic Cluster and First Deputy Chairman of the SPLM, as well as on behalf of the SPLM Secretary General, Hon. Cde. Dr. Akol Paul Kordit.
