South Sudan Foreign Minister Departs for UAE on Official Visit to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

South Sudan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Amb. Dr. James Pitia Morgan, has departed Juba International Airport for Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), on an official visit at the invitation of the UAE’s State Minister for African Affairs, H.E. Sheikh Shakhboot Bin Nahyan Al Nahyan.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFA&IC), the invitation followed Dr. Morgan’s recent reappointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Sheikh Shakhboot congratulated the minister on his reappointment and reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with South Sudan.
The UAE official also expressed readiness to continue implementing the bilateral initiatives and programmes previously agreed upon by the two countries, underscoring their shared commitment to advancing mutual interests.
During his visit to Abu Dhabi, Dr. Morgan is expected to review the implementation of several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) signed between South Sudan and the United Arab Emirates. Discussions will focus on enhancing cooperation in key sectors, including investment, tourism, and capacity building for South Sudanese diplomats.
The visit is expected to further strengthen diplomatic ties between Juba and Abu Dhabi while exploring new opportunities for economic cooperation, investment, and institutional development.
