South Sudan Foreign Minister Attends 74th IGAD Extraordinary Council Session

South Sudan’s Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister James Pitia Morgan participated Tuesday in the 74th Extraordinary Session of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development Council of Ministers in Djibouti, according to the ministry.
The Sept. 15 session brought together regional ministers to discuss peace and security, developments in the Red Sea and Bab el-Mandab, and the situations in South Sudan, Sudan and Somalia.
The ministers also discussed IGAD’s role in facilitating dialogue and political solutions, as well as efforts to strengthen regional peace and stability.
The meeting further addressed the regional bloc’s financial and institutional situation, with a focus on strengthening its capacity, sustainability and effectiveness in carrying out its mandate.
