The first deputy speaker in the Transitional National Assembly, Oyet Nathaniel Preirino, has condemned the mass killings and atrocities in Wad Madani committed by men in uniform allegedly belonging to the Rapid Support Forces and the Sudan Armed Forces. The atrocities have been shown in viral videos circulating on social media.

“We have seen men in uniform from both the RSF and SAF committing the same heinous atrocities; dismembering bodies, slaughtering civilians, and chanting ‘Allah Akbar!’ while recording it,” he said. “There are increasing cases of extrajudicial killings and human rights violations, even against Sudanese citizens themselves. Sudan has descended into record levels of violence,” Oyet shared on his social media platform.

He states that both forces – the RSF and SAF bear command responsibility over their forces, adding, “there is no justification whatsoever for what happened. Disgusting, inconceivable, and unacceptable! Words and apologies will never be enough.”

Oyet voiced his frustration, claiming that the Sudan army and its forces have continued to order the arrest, extermination, and genocide of foreign citizens of African descent, especially South Sudanese.

“The attacks on South Sudanese seem to be systematic, well-planned, sponsored, and sanctioned from the top leadership of the RSF and SAF.”

The fighting has left an as yet unestablished number of civilians reported killed in an ethnically-targeted attack last week.

He says the TNLA shall demand a detailed account from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on how they are dealing with this situation to prevent the repeat of what he describes “barbaric acts”, and ensure the perpetrators brought to justice.

The Sudan Embassy in Juba confirmed on Wednesday the atrocities committed against South Sudanese, promising to carry out a thorough investigation into the incident to bring the culprits behind the atrocities to justice.
