President Kiir to hold out groups-accept dialogue to honor Martyrs

South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir Mayaridt on Saturday called upon the holdout groups to accept dialogue as a way of honouring the martyrs.

“Let us embrace dialogue as the tool for resolving our differences, because it is the surest way to achieving rapid development in the country. On this note, I call upon our brothers and sisters in the holdout groups to accept dialogue as a way of honouring those who gave their lives for our county.”Said President Kiir in a statement to mark the Martyrs day in South Sudan.

President Kiir saluted all members of his organized forces and veterans of their struggle who he said, despite many challenges have continued to uphold the spirit of their martyrs.

“Their selfless actions and sacrifices are key ingredients that move our country forward, I wish you a peaceful and happy martyrs day and call upon you to give this day the honour it deserves by celebrating peacefully with your neighbours”. Added president Kiir

He also said he honours widows and children of their martyrs who continue to live with the pain of losing their loved ones

“While losing them is unbearable to all of us, we take solace in the fact that their sacrifice was not in vain. It has laid our national foundation upon which the sovereignty we enjoy today is based.” He added

“In honour of our martyrs, let us devote our energies to achieving total peace and stability in the country. By doing so, we will assure that our martyrs are honoured for eternity”. He concluded

“On Martyrs Day, we pay our debt of gratitude to men and women who paid the ultimate price for the cause of our freedom. On this day, we remember the sacrifices of our Hero, Comrade Dr. John Garang de Mabior along with millions who fought to fulfill our aspirations for an independent state since 1955”.
