President Kiir meets Church leaders in preparation of the papal vist

President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Monday met with the Bishops and Clerics from five Christian denominations out of the seven denominations under South Sudan Council of Churches headed by his Eminence Cardinal Gabriel Zubeir Wako and Emeritus Bishop Paride Taban prior to the peace pilgrimage of Pope Francis to the Country.

 According to News Published by Presidential Press Unit , President Kiir expressed his gratitude and reiterated the government’s commitment in supporting the program of the peace pilgrimage.

On his part, His Eminence Cardinal Gabriel Zubeir Wako called on Christians across the country to continue spreading the message of peace, love and unity in the communities.

In addition, the Archbishop of the archdiocese of Juba, Dr. Stephen Ameyu Mulla said the Church will join hands with the government to receive the Pontiff and the two religious leaders.

Lastly, the Primate of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan, Most Reverend Justin Badi Arama lauded President Kiir for his constant support to the church, noting that the peace pilgrimage is a fulfilment of reconciliation and unity to the people of South Sudan.

Pope Francis, the Archbishop of Cantebury Justin Welby and the Moderator General of the Church of Scotland Rt.Rev. Dr. Iain Greenshields are expected to arrive in Juba on Friday February 3rd 2023 after a two days papal visit to the Democratic Republic of Congo.
