President Kiir appoint new Speaker of Transitional Legislative Assembly
President Salva Kiir has appointed Joseph Ngere Paciko as the Speaker of the Transitional National Legislative Assembly, according to a presidential decree read at the August House.
Paciko, who represents Western Equatoria State in the National Legislative Assembly under the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement party list, brings considerable experience to the position. He previously served as Deputy Governor of the state and was a member of the Parliamentary Select Committee responsible for vetting presidential appointees.
His appointment is part of the ongoing implementation of the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan, a framework aimed at establishing a power-sharing government and guiding the country toward democratic elections.
