Police nabs thug who has been terrorizing residents of Aweil East County
Police in Aweil East County have arrested a feared and renowned criminal at Marial-Diing village after he escaped arrest one month and half ago.
The suspect Lual Wol Majook was apprehended on Sunday after a tip off to police by a resident of Madhol payam where the suspect hails from.
Majook is suspected of being behind a series of killings and theft with one particular case standing out of an old man who he lured and killed in July and dumped the latter’s body in a forest in Madhol payam.
He is also accused of stealing food in people’s farms.
Mel Tong Giitjook, an eye witness who informed the police on Majook’s whereabouts said he found the suspect merrymaking with some friends at Marial-Diing market before he informed the police.
“I got him cracking jokes with men and i was just on my own mission. I went and alerted the police but only got one officer so he asked me to mobilize more manpower. I managed to mobilize youth who together with the police besieged the house where the criminal was hiding,” Tong said.
Residents of Madhol payam expressed relief on hearing Majook’s capture by authorities.
In August police spokesperson Captain Guot Guot Akol urged residents of Northern Bahr El Ghazal state to closely cooperate with the police to improve security in the state.
