Pastor to serve prison term over adultery in Western Equatoria

A court in Western Equatoria State on Monday sentenced a local pastor to serve one-year prison term over adultery.

Justin Ibrahim, Chairperson for Mundri Bench Court, said the pastor whose name has been withheld for privacy has been fined 250,000 SSP.

The husband of the woman found to have had sexual intercourse with the accused opened a court case.

“We have sentenced the pastor to one year in prison for committing adultery,” Justin told The Juba Echo on Tuesday.

Justin disclosed that court also sentenced the woman to six months in prison for being unfaithful to her husband.

“The wife accepted that she has been having an affair with the pastor who impregnated her. The woman said she no longer wants her husband,” he added.

Court found out that the two had been secretly seeing each other for 7 months.

“The pastor who committed adultery is an educated man, he accepted that he impregnated her, saying that they started their love affair since December last year,” Justin said.

Justin revealed that this is the first case before Mundri-West County Court involving a man of God.
