New moderator urges reconciliation in the Presbyterian church in South Sudan

Rev. James Kuong Ninrew Dong, the newly elected moderator of the Presbyterian church in South Sudan is urging worshippers to embrace dialogue in a bid to foster reconciliation among disagreeing members.
Priority in the church must be the unity of followers, according to Dong who was elected during a general assembly in Juba on March 16.
“Try to negotiate on the reunification of the church,” he said.
Disputes arose in the church during a general assembly in December last year over the election of Rev. James Makuei as moderator as well as the name of the church.
While some members wanted the name to be the Presbyterian Church of Sudan and South Sudan, others were against it.
