New institute opens for law, int’l relations studies

A new institute offering diploma studies in law and international relations has opened in Juba,
Barnaba Marial Benjamin, the Minister for Presidential Affairs, while on Wednesday presiding over the opening ceremony of Berberi Academy, said it will help develop technical capacity and skills for South Sudanese,
“Academies are usually assisted by the government, our nation as it is in its early age of development is still having a lot of challenges, as such there is still a lot of room for growth in order for us to reach the potential we deserve,” Benjamin said.
The academy owned by veteran lawyer Salwa Berberi will offer post-graduate certificate and diploma studies in law, international relations and natural resources.
Awut Deng, the National Minister for General Education and Instruction, said that the country is in dire need of building capacity of citizens, as well as improving service delivery for the estimated 12.2 million population.
“This is the first academy and it is going to be a role model, it is crucial because we are working to improve service delivery for our people, this is a gift for our hard-won independence,” Deng said.
