National youth union sets up committee to resolve internal crisis in Aweil

The National Youth Union has set up a committee to investigate the internal crisis within the Northern Bahr El Ghazal state youth union.

Gola Boyoi Gola, the chairperson of the national youth union said the committee will investigate the infighting within the Aweil based youth union that caused the arrest last week of it’s embattled chairperson Tito Awen Bol.

The fact-finding committee is composed of the secretary general of the youth union, Simon Yel Yel and Puot Gatduel Bol and Ajak Aling Dok.

“They will arrive in Aweil town on Monday to start their work. I will brief them to go and start the work of reconciling the warring parties to smoothen the relations. I have given them seven days so that they understand the mess within the Northern Bahr El Ghazal youth union,” Gola told journalists in Aweil town on Sunday.

Awen was arrested with two of his colleagues by security forces during meeting held at Rail Way hotel in Aweil town.

The police and national security services accused Awen of illegally holding the meeting after he was suspended by a faction opposed to him.

Awen is accused of mismanaging funds of the youth union and of failing to call regular meetings of the Northern Bahr El Ghazal youth union.
