National flag to fly at half flagpole in South Sudan for three days.
The president of the republic of south Sudan Salva Kiir Mayardit has declared three days of national mourning in south sudan.
Kiir made this declaration during the state burial of the fallen minister of water resources and irrigation Manawa Peter Gatkouth who passed away recently from Cairo the capital of Egypt after a brief illness.
While addressing a huge number of mourners in the capital Juba on Monday, Kiir says the former minister died a premature.
He went ahead and heaped praises on him for being well groomed by his father the late Peter Gatkuoth Gual whom he said served the country in different capacities without having problem with any body
“We are here to mourn our brother Manawa Peter who died prematurely,Manawa may not be known to many people but I believe nobody doesn’t know his father Peter Gatkuoth Gual,who served South Sudan diligently until his death”.
He then declared three days of national mourning with the national flag all at half-mast “ I wrote this on my condolence message that our flag should fly at haft mast for three days and there should be no work as we mourn the death of our son Manawa Peter Gatkuoth ”.
Manawa who is also known as Marnaath by his family died aged 49 while still serving as the minister of water resources and irrigation of the revitalized transitional government of national unity and also chairperson of the Nile basin as well as the spokesperson of the main opposition Sudan Liberation Movement in opposition.
He is survived by four wives and unrevealed number of children.
