Murle community calls for security along Juba-Bor road
The Central Equatoria State government has been urged to improve security along Juba-Bor to
facilitate smooth flow of essential goods to communities living in Jonglei state and Greater
Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA).
David Ngiro, the chairperson of Murle community youth association said on Thursday that
traders are now afraid of using the road in the wake of the recent attacks against them by
armed gunmen along the highway.
“There was recently an attack our traders who were coming from Pibor to Juba, we are calling
on the Central Equatoria state government to provide security to these traders because all
these incidents happen in their area,” Ngiro told The Juba Echo.
Our attempts to reach out to Daniel Justin Buolo, the spokesman for the South Sudan national
police service for comment over the matter were futile by press time as his phone was switched
off.
Ngiro said that the recent attack on traders from GPAA occurred at Muur near to Jabor area of
Mangala payam located in Juba County.
“In regards to causalities, there are about two who died on the spot meanwhile three others
were wounded, the traders were coming with 4,123 heads of cattle which the attackers took,”
Ngiro said.
