Melut endorses Gen. Salva Kiir for 2024 elections

The people of Melut County in Upper Nile State have endorsed President Salva Kiir Mayardit who is also the SPLM Chairperson for 2024 presidential elections.

According to them, the endorsement is evidenced by President Salva Kiir’s commitment to selflessly accept all complex conditions given to him for the purpose of achieving peace, and restoring stability in the country after a series of conflicts.

Deng Joh Angok, Melut County Commissioner who is also the SPLM Chairperson in the county confirmed the secondment of H.E Gen. Salva Kiir as SPLM Chairperson and Presidential flag-bearer in the forthcoming general elections.

“He is a peace-loving and service-oriented President who is determined to propel the country forward,” he narrated.

After the death of the founding father Dr. John Garang, President Kiir followed Dr. John’s foot-steps while heading the SPLM and its military wing, and subsequently led the country into its deserved independence on July 9, 2011, according to the commissioner.

“This is a great man of peace worthy of our trust to lead us again after the 2024 general elections” he added.

With the party’s vision of taking town to people is gathering momentum across the country, Melut county has expressed positivity in President Kiir’s leadership of bringing peace to the country.

“His possible re-election as the President of the Republic will usher in new hopes for the next phase of development where the country will embark on agricultural production”.

“That will undoubtedly see South Sudan transition from humanitarian aid dependent to a food-secured state,” said Commissioner.

With trust bestowed upon Gen. Salva Kiir, the county leadership down to the grassroot declared that they will not fail the president just as he has not failed them in the quest for development and attainment of lasting peace.

The reopening of the SPLM Secretariat County offices in Melut has deeply rooted the party into the communities.

Commissioner Angok and County Secretary General Chok Dheen reopened and conducted SPLM rallies after the long closure of the offices due to the civil war that erupted in 2013.

The party leadership has reached out to new members and students, and are currently undergoing occasional training at the secretariat and have been issued identification cards.

In his words, Hon. Commissioner said the rallies were geared towards preparations for 2024 general elections.
