Measles vaccination campaign kicks off in Unity State
The long-awaited vaccination campaign for measles commenced on Tuesday following outbreak last week in Rubkona and Bentiu internally displaced persons (IDPs) camp in Unity State.
Jal Kuol Malow, Rubkona County Director of health, said the vaccination is targeting children ranging from six months to 15 years.
“Our mobile teams have started vaccinating children of six months to 15 years old against measles, the vaccination will continue for a week,” Malow told The Juba Echo.
The number of cases has risen from 53 reported last week to 83 cases of measles in the state.
The vaccination is being done in partnership with Medicines Sans Frontiers (MSF) Holland.
