Man suspected to have aided his lover to commit abortion granted bail
A businessman Thiep Thiep who was last week arrested by police for aiding his girlfriend to abort their eight-month old baby has been granted bail.
Thiep a resident of Aweil West County in Northern Bahr El Ghazal State is accused of instructing his lover Angic Wei Atak to abort the pregnancy as he feared responsibility.
Philip Agany, the police criminal investigation officer in Nyamlel where the crime occurred said the suspect had been incarcerated in Aweil prison here he was granted bail.
“His file has been taken to the attorney, his matter lies there and one of his relatives has asked for bail and it was granted, he will be taken to court to answer for his charges,” Agany said.
Angic nearly lost her lf when she was found bleeding profusely after aborting the pregnancy. She later informed police authorities that Thiep helped her to abort.
Under South Sudan laws, abortion is criminalized and punishable with lengthy prison sentence.
