The outbound lane of Juba bridge has been opened to the public, two months after it was closed for repair work.
“The bridge has gone for over 50 years now and it is still going to deliver,” Simon Mijok Mijak, the Minister for Roads and Bridges said while officiating at the opening on Thursday.
“I am asking the people of South Sudan to own this bridge, I am calling for a sense of ownership and responsibility,” he said.
The work of repairing the outbound lane of the Juba Bridge was undertaken by Rhino Star company with facilitation from the British Embassy.
Musa Hakim, a driver who commutes passengers between Konyo-Gumbo said that the traffic has long been interrupted, noting that the business was completely down over traffic jam at the bridge.
“We are very happy that the outbound lane is open, those coming from Kampala and the residents of Gumbo were severely affected,” he said.
