JICA Donates to National Constitutional Review Commission
The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has donated five computers, one printer, one projector, reams of papers and audio recorders to the National Constitutional Review Commission (NCRC) on Tuesday.
“We as JICA believe that these items will help NCRC to properly conduct civic education and public consultations across the country.” Said Wudu Dickson from JICA.
The NCRC says it has now sent four teams to states to collect data that will be put in the permanent constitution.
The Secretary General of the NCRC John Natana Abraham said at the reception of the items donated by JICA that the teams have now reached Lakes, Eastern Equatoria, Western Bahr El Ghazal and Northern Bahr El Ghazal States.
“We have four teams out and they have reached those locations, these items donated by JICA will help us a lot, we do a lot of printing and these items have come at the right time.” Said Mr. Natana.
The Constitution Making Process Act 2022, Section 6 provides that the making of the permanent constitution making should be people driven.
Mr. Natana says everyone willing to give their views is free to do so on issues such as federalism, citizenship, security sector among others and that those issues will be entered into a data based. He says that’s where the computers donated by JICA comes in handy.
