Immigration department resumes printing passports

The Directorate for Civil Registry, Nationality, Passport and Immigration announced on Friday that it has restarted printing passports after running out of passport booklets.

Thonchol Gach Kiir, the chief of immigration at Nesitu and Aru junction stations told journalists at the immigration office headquarter in Juba after receiving passport booklets.

“We have received 17,500 booklets the remaining ones will be received on Monday, we have many people who have applied in the system but you must come so that we print your passport,” said Kiir.

He disclosed that they are charging 4500 South Sudanese Pounds for regular passports.

“The fee for a South Sudanese passport is known, any extra charges outside immigration office we are not responsible for it the dealings must be inside our office, if you are given different charges do not accept otherwise you are committing a crime,” said Kiir.

Kiir assured that they won’t experience more further delays in issuing out passports since they are well stocked with booklets.
