The Governor of Central Equatoria State, Emmanuel Adil Anthony, has directed newly appointed state government officials to prioritize the state’s key development agenda.
Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony of new ministers, commissioners, and state advisors in Juba, Governor Adil urged the officials to focus on four major priorities of the state government: peace and security, keeping Juba City and other towns clean and green, promoting agriculture, and improving service delivery.
The governor emphasized that restoring security and stability across the state must remain a top priority.
“We need to restore order. All of you must contribute to achieving the major agenda of Central Equatoria State. Let us work in peace for the people of the state and the people of South Sudan,” Adil said.
Governor Adil has repeatedly highlighted the importance of peace, environmental cleanliness in Juba, agricultural development, and improved services as the key pillars of his administration.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Governor of Central Equatoria State, Paulino Lokudu Bede, said the appointment of the new officials was timely and urged them to introduce innovative ideas for the development of the state and the national capital.
He stressed the need to improve road infrastructure, empower communities through agriculture, and rebuild schools that were damaged during years of conflict.
“It is time to construct roads across the state, empower our people through agriculture, and rebuild schools affected during the conflict. We need your contributions,” Lokudu said.
He also called on outgoing officials to properly hand over government programs and responsibilities to the incoming leaders to ensure continuity in governance.
Speaking on behalf of the newly appointed officials, the Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Augustino Ladu Martin, urged government officials to work together and learn from one another in order to effectively serve the people.
“Let us work together so that we can serve our people and bring development to the state,” he said.
The newly appointed Commissioner of Lainya County, Huda Micha Laila, said county authorities will work closely with traditional chiefs to promote peace and security in their areas.
She added that although security forces in the area are disciplined, they sometimes face challenges due to a lack of support.
“As commissioners, we need support from the governor so that we can address the issue of people migrating to Juba from rural areas. These security organs are disciplined, but they have been abandoned,” she said.
Earlier this year, Salva Kiir Mayardit directed leaders at all levels of government to focus on preparations for the 2026 general elections and on strengthening regional security.
