Get COVID-19 Jab before entering parliament- Activist tells nominated MPs
By John Agok
A civil society organization is urging nominated members of parliament (MPs) to get vaccinated against covid-19 before getting to parliament.
In an exclusive interview with Juba Echo, the Executive Director for Foundation for Democracy and Accountable Governance (FODAG) Jame David Kolok called on all the nominated members of parliament to get inoculated against COVID-19 before going to parliament.
“Before the first sitting in the parliament, the Ministry of health must ensure that all the nominated members of parliament are vaccinated and they must show their certificates,” Kolok said.
Kolok urges MP to be exemplary to South Sudanese people by being in the front liners in getting the jabs and observing preventive measures against COVID-19
“We are calling for vaccination of the 550 members of parliament (MPs) for their safety since the current parliament building was not meant for that number and social distancing will be difficult,” he added.
South Sudan’s parliament is expanded from 400 to 550 members as a result of the country’s 2018 peace agreements.
