Federation of African Journalists, IOM and AU launch Labour Migration Program
The African Union Commission (AUC), the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and the Federation of African Journalists (FAJ) have launched a joint program on Labour Migration at Dakar’s Ndiambour hotel.
The three – day Capacity Building workshop for leaders of journalists’ trade unions and Editors from August 5 – 7, 2024, is aimed at building positive narrative on Labour Migration governance in Africa.
Dr Sabelo Mbokazi, Head of the Labour, Employment and Migration Division at the African Union Commission called on Journalists to play a key role in ensuring effective Labour Migration governance in Africa.
Federation of African Journalists (FAJ) President Mr Omar Faruk Osman said media practitioners should make use of a multiplicity of sources at their disposal to expose Labour violations and to improve Labour Migration governance in Africa.
The African Union Commission will use the workshop to launch a network of Journalists specialising in reporting Labour Migration and decent work.
