The acting Director for United States agency for International Development (USAID) in South Sudan, Mr. Mark Anthony White has dared youth in South Sudan to create jobs for themselves and not to wait for such opportunities from government.

Mark who was speaking on Thursday during the Celebration of World Population Day and launch of the State of the World Population Report 2022, under the theme; South Sudan in the World of 8 Billion; towards a Resilient Future for All, also advised youth against criminal activities.

“I call all young people of South Sudan to create job opportunities for themselves and not wait for government to offer them such opportunities”, he said.

He also condemned violence among young people and asked for tolerance as a mean of embarking on peace and development.

“I denounce violence which have claimed lives of young people since the conflicts began in the Country. The young people should not be used by political elites to fight for their political interests”, he advised.

Mark noted that, there should be justice inclusiveness and freedom of opportunity for choice in order to achieve the 2030 agenda.

“Denying people their Human Rights is a challenge for humanity, and this is the phenomenon Africans are grappling with”. Mark quoted from Nelson Mandela.

In another development, Henrik Herber the representative of Swedish government in South Sudan who also adorned this occasion used his part to urge young people to respect Sexual Health Reproductive Rights (SHRR) and shun Gender Based Violence (GBV).

“Young people should not give up, although the World is now in crisis, we should be motivated by those challenges and move on. Young people should respect Sexual Health Reproductive Rights and focus on their ambitions” he said.

The occasion was organized by development partners and attended by distinguished government officials in the capital Juba.
