This conflict is not born from your actions – Governor Jadalla

The Governor of Central Equatoria State, Augustino Jadalla, has ordered the deployment of additional security forces in Terekeka following an escalation of violence related to a land dispute between residents of Jor and Koggi Bomas.

The conflict has resulted in the tragic deaths of at least eight residents and injuries to 18 others, leading to widespread displacement, particularly among women and children from Koggi village. The dispute centers around a contested grazing area in the agricultural region of Mundari, where clashes involved both heavy and light weaponry. Homes in Koggi Boma were set ablaze, causing panic among local residents.

“This conflict is not born from your actions…”

During his visit to the affected area, Governor Jadalla noted that the violence may have been politically motivated, stating, “This conflict is not born from your actions but is stirred by political actors with selfish agendas.”

He emphasized the importance of unity among the Mundari people, urging them to focus on solidarity, not division.

In response to the crisis, Governor Jadalla pledged to provide food, medicine, and temporary housing for the displaced individuals in Terekeka.

Paramount Chief Abraham Gai commended the governor’s leadership and expressed confidence in the government’s ability to resolve the situation, stating, “We are grateful for the Governor’s involvement. We look forward to the government acting swiftly and thoughtfully to address this issue.”
