Central Equatoria state to resolve border dispute with Uganda

The government of Central Equatoria State has initiated plans to resolve the recurrent border dispute with neighboring Uganda.

“A regional engagement is initiated to handle border issues with neighboring Uganda and Democratic Republic of Congo,” said Andruga Mabe Saverio, the Central Equatoria state minister of information told journalists in Juba on Thursday.

 He said President Salva Kiir called upon the youth and all the people affected to refrain from violence and maintain order as measures are taken seriously to defuse the tension.

Saverio also revealed that Emmanuel Adil Antony, the governor of Central Equatoria state has formed a select committee led by his security advisor to dialogue with neighboring Pibor Administrative Area over child abduction.

Last week, the transitional national legislative assembly resolved to summon James Pitia Morgan, the national minister of foreign affairs and the border committee to answer queries over the border dispute with Uganda.

The piece of land located in Bori boma of Kajo Keji County is being disputed over with communities in Uganda.
