The council of ministers on Monday reached consensus to clean rivers in order to cut out water hyacinth
that are blocking transportation and flow of water.
“The cabinet decided that what should be done is the cleaning and clearing of the waterways, remove
any obstacle on the way and land and clearing ways so that the water can be used for navigation and
other issues,” said Michael Makuei Lueth, the Minister of Information during press conference.
The meeting held in Juba was chaired by President Salva kiir Mayardit.

this year.
“These weeds need to be removed so that the water flows,” Makuei said.

Marial Benjamin on the outcome of the public consultation on river dredging and also the Minister of
Environment and Forestry, Josephine Napwon on building resilience of the government and community
to mitigate and adapt to the impact of climate change.
