Azande youth accuse Governor Futuyo of framing Parliament Speaker
Youths from the Azande community in Western Equatoria State have described recent statements made by the Governor of Western Equatoria State, Alfred Futuyo on Parliament Speaker Jemma Nunu Kumba as defamatory.
According to a statement yesterday by Migbiakumba John, the chairman of Azande Youth, Kumba Kumba has served her community in particular and the nation at large with “supreme commitment.”
Recently statements alleged to Governor Futuyo said Kumba should be removed from her position of speakership claiming she was part of disunity and conflicts in Western Equatoria State.
“We as Azande Youth Association have been informed through the referenced letter that spread speculative information that is intended to tarnish and damage the image of Azande Kingdom and the king directly, our community leaders especially Rt. Hon. Speaker’s personal and professional integrity and the Azande youth leaders,” John said.
On August 31, 2023, Futuyo is said to have addressed a letter to President Salva Kiir indicating the removal of Kumba from her position over an ongoing conflict in Western Equatoria.
John said the Azande youth leadership are recommending for an investigation into the statement of Futuyo which they claim is creating insecurity in Western Equatoria.
“Rt.Hon. Jemma Nunu Kumba is a respected princess in the Azande kingdom, profession in the community, country and at international level, she has spent her life building positive reputation not only for her but to Azande community and South Sudanese women/citizens,” he said.
