By Hou Akot Hou

Aweil University of Northern Bahr el Ghazal state on Wednesday opened doors for it’s first intake, according to it’s vice chancellor.

Prof. Stephen Chol Ajuong, the vice chancellor of Aweil University, said they are currently admitting students in the faculty of medicine and midwifery.

“I want to urge everyone who has registered to come and attend the classes. We have officially started though most of the things are missing. We are going to fix things bit by bit as learning continues for the medical students,” Ajuong told journalists in Aweil town.

Ajuong acknowledged that they still lack enough lecturer halls for students, adding lecturers are taking place in temporary halls.

The university management also promised to construct perimeter wall around the university.

Deng Garang Dut, a first year student of midwifery, said he hopes the Aweil university management will ensure the students’ studies go on uninterrupted.

He cited the closure of Wau University in neighboring in Western Bahr el Ghazal state following disagreement over tuition fees between students and the lecturers.
