12 people killed in Mayom County’s Commissioner- SSPDF

South Sudan’s People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) has confirmed that the commissioner of Mayom County was killed alongside nine other people when his home was attacked on Thursday night.
SSPDF spokesperson, Maj. Gen. Lul Ruai Koang accused a discharged SSPDF former Gen. Stephen Buay of being behind the attack.
Maj. Gen. Lul said the army is still gathering more information.
The Mayom County’s Executive Director, Gatdet Gany Madut released a document showing that there were 12 people killed and 13 others wounded.

Twelve people have been killed in the attack carried out by forces loyal to the demoted SSPDF Gen. Stephen Buay Rolnyang according to the Executive Director for Mayom County in Unity State.

In an official communication released on Friday afternoon Mr. Gatdet Gany Madut,the Executive Director for Mayom County says those killed during the 2:30am incursion are “Maj. Gen. James Chuol Gatluak Manime, Mayom commissioner, Brig. Gen. Simon Wayah Ruai, chief inspector for wildlife service, Lt. Mawum Matur of SSPD and Lt. Joklena Bakuony of wildlife service.

Two members of military intelligent services, a soldier of armed opposition group, South Sudan opposition alliance – SSOA, Reyhok Wicyiey Chuol of South Sudan Police Service, Yien Tap Badeng of SSOA, Gatphan Dor Madiet of M.I, Tiem Nyok Moun of M.I, Gatduel Jany Koh of SSPDF, Majiek Bol of SSNPS also make up the list of those who died in the Friday clash.

For now the casualty list include two civilians,Capt. Zoal Juoy Duop, Capt. Chipak Rock Deng and Bol Mawich Dak of SSPDF and  Lt. Deng Gatjiek Patai, Sgt Mun Yoach, Puok Kuol Gatjiek, Lam Mead Gatwech, Wadar Lual Wuor, Kuaher Mut Kernyang and Both Machuop Mathoat of South Sudan National Police Service. 

Discharged Former SSPD General, Stephen Buay Rolnyang of South Sudan People’s Movement [SSPM] has claimed responsibility for the Friday attack.

The former General released a letter dated 22nd July 2022, alleging that Maj. Gen. Kerubino Ruay Tap, the SSPDF commander of 4th infantry division went to Mayom last week with intention to free it from SSPM/A forces thus attacking SSPM/A forces base at Bong on 21st July 2022 killing one soldier. 

The SSPM/A forces retaliated immediately by attacking and capturing Mayom this morning on 22nd July 2022, around 0300 Hours, he confirmed.

Gen. Lul Ruai Koang, the South Sudan army Spokesperson established that, the commissioner was killed by SSPM/A rebels loyal to renegade and disgraced former Gen. Stephen Buay Bolnyang who infiltrated Mayom town under the direct command of Maj. Gatluak Majok.
