South Sudan energy minister holds talks with U.S. investor on solar power development

South Sudan’s Minister of Energy and Dams, Agok Makur Kur, has held talks with a U.S.-based energy company on opportunities for investment and cooperation in solar power development.

Kur met with Tadas Mikuckis, manager of photovoltaic system installations at Soleil Energy Solutions, to discuss potential solar energy projects and the expansion of renewable energy systems in South Sudan.

The discussions focused on investment and partnership opportunities in the electricity sector, with the aim of improving power supply and strengthening energy security in the country.

Kur emphasized the importance of attracting investors and specialized companies to harness South Sudan’s solar energy potential. He said the government is committed to strengthening partnerships and creating a conducive environment for investment in the energy sector.

The meeting is part of the Ministry of Energy and Dams’ efforts to expand international cooperation, attract investment and technical expertise, and support the development of the electricity sector and wider access to energy across South Sudan.

The ministry said solar energy development remains an important area of focus as the government seeks to expand access to reliable electricity and diversify the country’s energy sources.
