South Sudan Energy Minister Travels to Zimbabwe for ISA Regional Meeting

South Sudan’s Minister of Energy and Dams, Agok Makur Kur, has departed Juba for Zimbabwe to attend the eighth meeting of the International Solar Alliance Regional Committee for Africa.

The meeting is scheduled for Aug. 25-27 in Victoria Falls and will bring together energy ministers and representatives from ISA member countries, development partners, experts and other stakeholders.

Participants are expected to discuss ways to accelerate solar energy deployment across Africa, expand access to clean energy and strengthen investment and partnerships in the renewable energy sector.

The agenda includes initiatives such as the Africa Solar Facility, Country Partnership Frameworks, the “Solarising Africa” report and the Community of Practice on Solarisation of Agriculture in Africa.

South Sudan’s participation is aimed at strengthening regional and international cooperation in the energy sector and exploring opportunities to develop solar and other renewable energy projects.

The government has identified expanded access to electricity and sustainable energy development as key priorities for the country’s development.
