The Reconstituted Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (RJMEC) has expressed condolences following the death of former South Sudan Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Hon. Kosti Manibe Ngai.

Manibe died on Aug. 11, 2026, according to a statement issued by the RJMEC on Thursday.

RJMEC Interim Chairperson Amb. Maj. Gen. George Aggrey Owino (Rtd.) described Manibe as a dedicated public servant who devoted years to serving South Sudan in various capacities.

During his career, Manibe held senior government positions and contributed to public administration, economic management, national affairs and peacebuilding, the commission said.

Manibe also served as a member of RJMEC, where he contributed to the commission’s mandate of monitoring and overseeing the implementation of the Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan and the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan.

RJMEC said Manibe participated actively in the commission’s work during a critical period of implementation of the peace agreement, contributing his views and engaging constructively in the peace process.

The commission said his contribution was particularly important as South Sudan continued to require political dialogue, compromise, trust and collective commitment among the parties and other stakeholders.

“His passing is therefore not only a loss to his family, friends and colleagues, but also to the broader peace and nation-building efforts of South Sudan,” RJMEC said.

The commission extended its condolences to Manibe’s family, relatives, friends and colleagues, saying it stood in solidarity with them during the period of mourning.

RJMEC also honored his service to South Sudan and his contribution to the country’s peace process.
