MSF Reaffirm Partnership on Humanitarian and Health Cooperation

Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Amb. Dr. James Pitia Morgan, on Monday received the Secretary General of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), Mrs. Laura Leyser, and her delegation for a courtesy visit in Juba.

During the meeting, Leyser highlighted the longstanding collaboration between MSF and the Government of South Sudan, expressing appreciation for the government’s continued support for the organization’s humanitarian and medical operations across the country.

She underscored the importance of including MSF in the Host Country Agreement and the proposed NGO Bill, noting that these frameworks would help strengthen cooperation and facilitate the organization’s work in South Sudan.

Leyser also said available health indicators show that South Sudan remains free of Ebola cases. She emphasized that MSF continues to work closely with the Ministry of Health to strengthen preparedness, coordination, and public awareness to help prevent any potential outbreak.

The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of the Government of South Sudan and MSF to advancing humanitarian assistance and strengthening the country’s public health response through continued collaboration.
